There are TONS of great antique shops in Culpeper. I just wish we'd had time to shop all of them! This would be a great place to spend a weekend just antiquing and eating in great restaurants! Don't forget Orange and Gordonsville.......antique shops GALORE!!!! We'll definitely be going back! O, did I mention we stayed in a fantastic hotel? The Suites at 249 could not have been better! What a great place to spread out and it was within walking distance to all the shops and restaurants!! WHAT FUN!!

Great stuff, huh? Well, I'll let you in on a little secret..........I'm going to look at a potential space for a shop!! I'm not sure I really want to commit to a shop or not. I don't want to be tied down. I want to be able to go to an estate sale or auction and not have to worry about manning a shop. Maybe I'll just create interest by only opening 3 days a week, like Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.....hmm....what do you think I should do??

I live in a small town in Texas and they do something around here called Antique Alley where people set up booths along a farm to market highway and they have a huge antique sale. There are many antique shops in our town, and although most stay open along a schedule, one or two of them (with the best selections, of course) don't post their hours and are only open 2-3 days a week, for however long the shopkeeper feels appropriate. I'm quite used to it, but sometimes it's frustrating when I see something in the shop window I'd really like and they're always closed when I pass by.
ReplyDeleteHey Spoken Melody! That has happened to me too, and usually in a place where I don't live! Then I start to obsess about the item I wanted. Eventually I come to my senses and tell myself it wasn't meant to be and that I'll find something similar or better down the road! Thanks for your input! I'll let you know waht I decide to do!!
